CASTLE: BECKETT – A Man For All Seasons
This silly thought came to me while researching a theology paper on Thomas Beckett. Yes it was a stretch in the later seasons but hey, why not! One other interesting point, as much as they made Castle a womanizer, he and Beckett had the same number of romantic liasons in the first three seasons!
“I didn’t ask”
“you didn’t ask overly loudly”
He’s back and with intentions to rekindle past romance. We are not privy to whether this gains traction, Kate does tell Castle she has a date at the end of episode 9 and then spends lots of time with Will after her gets shot, even agreeing to still kinda liking sprinkles.
Well this got interesting. Up to this point, season two looked like a blossoming Caskett relationship only for Rick to bed Ellie Monroe. I think we all screamed WFT especially after offering her the guest room after the explosion and then asking Beckett to take on Alexis if he perishes. Can’t blame Kate though here.
After the unfortunate miscommunications at the end of season two, Kate somehow hooks up with Dr. Motorcycle Boy. We never really find out how the romance began, as he is a surprise to the boys at the end of episode four. We find out it is a committed coupling in episode five when she unwittingly tells Castle she is sleeping with Josh. Somehow he lasts all season into episode one of season four.
Love gets an international flavor as Beckett likes what she sees in the British (I still think he sounds Australian) agent, especially in a towel putting his hands up. They show some chemistry together when going undercover as Castle reverts to his childish/playboy ways. When done Kate calls Colin back for that offer of a drink. Let the speculation begin!
Wow, this one hits close to home for Castle. You can see why he would be beside himself if Kate willingly kissed Vaughn after Merideth cheating on him. Not to mention Castle is not the most self assured person when it comes to being with Kate. Yet he did bring it on himself, after all, what red blooded male would play a video game instead of joining Kate especially after her dance!
I know know I am in the minority by liking the storyline of wild Kate doing something like getting married in Vegas while at Stanford. I also liked that it kinda put her and Castle on more even ground, he divorced twice, she now divorced once and had a one time live in with Josh.
So after being together almost three years, married nine months(?) or so, an encounter with faded star Danny Valentine makes Kate swoon, and in front of Castle! Loved the flirting between the two at the expense of Ricky! Best part number two is when Danny tells her he inspired her to be a cop and she shudders “may…maybe a little“. Then later on when Castle calls her on it she says “Yeah, but what was I supposed to do? He’s Danny frickin’ Valentine.”
ok ok it was a stretch, I admit ?
This is a storyline I both liked and hated. I really liked the playfulness of it, especially teasing the boys that they were now dating others. I feel there was much more to be extracted from it. I disliked that Kate felt after 8 episodes she now needed to raise her voice and use violence to show they were separated, not to mention the cheating angle. But I did like the comedic stumbling over Svetlana and Dr.Livingstone.
“That was Joe-freakin’-Torre. I gotta call my dad. “(Walks away)
