FIVE 4 FRIDAY: ABSENTIA SEASON 2 – So far
I am at the half way point of season 2 ( third time around) and I have so pressing questions I would like to explore. Dot those who have not seen it yet, consider this your spoiler alert. So here is what I think…
How much will Emily’s PTSD effect her in back working with the FBI?
There have been several ‘episodes’ of flashbacks, recollections and sheer panic. It all culminated with her kicking Tommy’s ass after he found the truth serum, triggering her savage beast defense. Now that she and Cal are chasing Rex Wolfe in Moldova
IS CAL ISAAC FOR REAL?
Cal has been a true God-send for both Emily and the show overall. His faith in Byrne, without being substantiated, is a nice change from her other peers, including Nick, who are wary and downright negative toward her. Cal stepping up and wanting Emily for the mission to capture and/or neutralize Wolfe was unexpected but one that I cheered heartily.
WHAT IS THE STORY WITH JULIANNE GUNNARSEN?
We are introduced to Special Agent Gunnersen in the opening episode as a profiler from D.C. She works with Nick, but is she really? Nick seems enamored with her lavishing praise upon her, etc. Yet at least twice Julianne glommed credit for successes of the team. She also does not miss a chance to show up Crown when he screws up. She is up to something for sure and please, unlike Nick, never mistake her for a team player.
WHY AREN’T PEOPLE NOT MORE UPSET OVER FLYNN’S RECENT ACTIONS.
So, Flynn freaks out on Valerie and gets physical. He punches the bejesus out of a boy trying to help him. He yells at the therapist in defense of Emily. He gets nasty at the dinner table, admonishing everyone in that dysfunctional family. Not excusing Emily, but they froze her out in the upbringing of Flynn so she could hardly do much. Nick in in Ultra-FBI superhero mode and barely remembers when he lives or who his family is. Alice has too much influence and Dr Oluwale seems to almost encourage Flynn’s acting out.
IS REX WOLFE EVEN MORE DIABOLICAL THAN BRANDON TYLER MILLS?
He killed 120 in a gas attack, then killed a dad and kidnapped the daughter. His bravado when explaining himself to Nick, telling him he is ready to supply an encore. Rex took contracts to kill what seems like random people, getting close enough to dose them with fentanyl, plunging the syringe into their carotid artery. His stealth like movements conquered Nick, leaving him a sniveling fool. Yet he allows him to live. Interesting!
