MONDAY MUSINGS: TWICE AS NICE
Back to the beginning, the re-setting of the 40+ hours of toil. But we do have that proverbial silver lining, the new installment of MONDAY MUSINGS! Yes, I can be as shallow as a certain ruggedly handsome writer. But enough about Rick and onto this week’s edition!
RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING
Kudos to fan and friend (who is bucking for muse) PJB who inspired this one. In the pilot episode, Rick trying to get Beckett’s goat, seeing how far he can push her. Then, three seasons later, lo and behold, GIRLS GONE CRAZY is featured on HEAD CASE. Sadly, the owner and creator of such pubescent material dies one season later.
ITS ALL IN THE WRISTS
After the dastardly Scott Dunn framed Ben Conrad for the attempted murder of Detective Beckett, Kate took up temporary residence at Che’ Castle. In the blast, Kate injured her left arm/wrist. Two years later while dealing with PTSD, in a fit of a drunken rage, Kate sliced open her right arm/wrist.
Well, well, well…before CASKETT there was ESPLAINE! But to use Javier’s vernacular, the are gonna keep it on the down low. WORST SECRET EVER! Two years later, Kate and Rick finally had some sense knocked into them (thank you Cole Maddox). If nothing else, they lasted four episodes before Ryan inadvertently found out.
As in almost everything romantic in the swirling whirlwind of CASKETT, a different, younger, hipper, less affectionately repressed version of Writer and Muse show up at the 12th. Let me present to you HASTAKER! They couple up before the senior pair gets around to it. A shame that their storyline could not find a niche in the remaining seasons of the show.
RICK’s FRIEND ACCUSED OF MURDER
He didn’t do it, this time. Rick’s friend Damien Westlake certainly was quite the scoundrel, stealing another man’s wife. Dropping the family fortune on her. His one plus, his ace in the hole is being Castle’s friend. If anyone could get him off the hook, it would be Castle. Although going to bat for his high school mentor, even to the point of pissing off and possibly losing Beckett. Damien did not count of Rick’s acquired need for justice to win out. In that same vein, been the mayor Bob Weldon, could not save himself from interrogation by Kate by being Castle’s friend. Their friendship cost the mayor a future in higher political office.
A KISS IS NOT A KISS
Too meta? Just for research? Hmmmmmmm…. then one of the funnier scenes where Natalie asks that Beckett give Castle permission to sleep with her! And to top it off, Beckett seems disappointed he didn’t was to sleep with her me,, not me me 😝😝😝😝. Then, Kate does give Castle permission, albeit within the context of subtext when he needs to protect Beckett from the B&E of Serena’s hotel room. Our detective is downright indignant when catching them in a lip lock!
