TUESDAY TIDBITS: UNDERRATED MOMENTS
I really enjoy the small details of this show, they really tie together the concept of Dramady and make it totally fun. In that regard, today I am taking a moment from each of the first four seasons that I felt truly lead to the eventual CASKETT coupling.
SEASON ONE EPISODE 9 – LITTLE LOST GIRL
By the time Castle volunteers to be the drop guy, the feelings between Kate and Rick develop, mature yet get very complicated at the same time. This quick scene is the first to show Beckett might actually care about Castle.
SEASON 2 EPISODE 15 – SUICIDE SQUEEZE
Normally this nine year old on a sugar rush would offer the word play between Rick and Kate as she enunciated veritable and fallacious. But I liked seeing the fan girls side of Beckett especially since she refuses to acknowledge she is a big Castle fan girl.
RECEPTIONIST:Do you have an appointment?
BECKETT: (Shows her badge) I think he can squeeze me in.
JOE TORRE: Rick? Rick Castle?
CASTLE: Hey, Skipper. I have not seen you since the big move. How are you, Joe?
. . .
CASTLE: We’re actually here to talk to Mr. Fox about it. This is Detective Kate Beckett.
BECKETT: Beckett… Kate… Detective. Thank you.
TORRE: Very nice meeting you.
TORRE: Well, good luck on the case. And, uh, I’ll say a prayer for you guys.
TORRE: By the way, say hi to your mom for me, okay?
CASTLE: Will do, Joe.
BECKETT: That was Joe-freakin’-Torre. I gotta call my dad. (Walks away)
CASTLE: The office is over… The off– his office is…
SEASON 3 EPISODE 6 – 3XK
The ending of this show gave me the definitive feeling that we would get a romantic union of Beckett and Castle. I just had to wait another year and three quarters to get it! Not only are the holding hands and commiserating, Kate bought Castle a coffee!
SEASON 4 EPISODE 2 – HEROES AND VILLIANS
I liked this one for the theme of this blog mostly because after the tough, heart wrenching scenes from RISE, Kate and Rick fell back into their wonderful banter and playfulness. It just added a layer toward their getting together.
MIKE: We just got your Derrick Storm graphic novel. I mean, the art, the writing … it is, in a word, awesome.
CASTLE: Tell me, what’s your favorite part?
BECKETT: Ah, you don’t have to answer that question. His ego does not need any more feeding.
MIKE: Definitely where Derrick Storm escapes from the two bad guys by crashing the –
MIKE and CASTLE: – taxi cab.
MIKE: Oh! I’m sorry, Detective Beckett, I should have said spoiler alert.
BECKETT:Oh, that’s okay. I won’t be reading it.
(She’s nonchalant as CASTLE looks at her.)
MIKE : Really? I saw your name on our list. You pre-ordered a copy.
(CASTLE turns to BECKETT.)
CASTLE: Did she now?
(BECKETT takes only a moment to compose herself before turning to CASTLE.)
BECKETT: I was just being supportive.
(They share a look before BECKETT turns back to MIKE.)
There you have it, some underrated scenes that I felt added greatly to later seasons and the union of the best male and females in TV history!
